The Two Faced Foe

The Two Faced Foe

The devil can take the good and transform it into something bad.

He can take our love of country and the flag and make it into an idol.

He can take our desire to protect our families and our fortune and make it into a barrier, a wall, if you will, that shuts out compassion.

He can take our desire to protect the vulnerable, unborn, and turn it into murderous hate.

He can take our desire to be successful in the world and turn it into single-minded selfishness.

He can take our love for God and our religion and twist it into intolerance that makes justice supreme over grace.

He can make lies ring with false truth, loudly resonating with pride and dominance rather than humility and service.

The antidote to the venom is simple and clear: follow Jesus. Every day. Love what he loves and be Christ in the world. Take on the role of servant. Be humble. Be kind. Live in a way that shows the Fruit of the Spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness and Self-control. Against these there is no evil that can prevail. WWJD.
